Wow, friends! Where have you been? Oh wait, that’s me! I’ve been MIA! I’m currently watching the Lions in OT… biting all the fingernails (hypothetically of course, these nails are too gorgeous to do that.) This week I did a LOT of painting and, though I had planned on writing a make-up post from last Sunday during the week, I never felt like sitting down and writing. Today I am hella distracted too but I’m determined to keep my promises! This week saw a LOT of productivity. I have formatted new 2026 BunBun prints for my online shop (here), I have been working SUPER diligently to finishing my 16×16” painting of “Edna” because later this month “Pathogen” will be sent to Northville Art House for their Art That Pushes Boundaries exhibition and I REALLY don’t want to put up an older piece in its place at the Arts Council where it currently hangs. PLUS, I have formatted 3 of my paintings from this year to have prints made up BUT I REALLY need to make some money before I’m able to justify purchasing more prints. I know all of my small biz art friends are feeling the financial hit of a country that has no idea where it is headed. It feels like no one has any extra cash and if we do, we are spending money on experiences…and necessities that cost ABSOLUTELY way too much right now. WOOT, the Lions just won 31-30 in OT!
Anyway, I stopped reading Middlemarch after a few chapters because… zzzzz… but I’ve also read WAY too much this week and finished The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole. I began this one because I’ve decided that the last few gothic literature pieces I have read, I have really enjoyed. So upon investigating the genre, I found that a lot of historians believe that Walpole’s The Castle of Otranto is the birth of gothic literature. Walpole was not exclusively a gothic author, and a lot of critics have debated over this authorship being pretentious and immaturely devised. The story itself was written from a dream he had of a giant’s hand in a glove of armor resting at the top of a banister and only took 2 weeks to complete. That being said… I freaking loved it. It was bizarre. It was dark. It was dramatic as hell. The very beginning of the story starts with a prince’s kingdom preparing for his son’s wedding to another noble family’s daughter of the area Otranto, Italy when the boy is murdered by a giant knight’s helmet that apparently came from… nowhere. It only gets stranger from there. Highly recommend! I’m also starving for more gothic literature so if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them! I honestly think I might pick up Frankenstein next… I enjoyed reading it in high school, and I feel like I will get a whole new appreciation for it now!

Alright, for goodness sakes I’ll be back next week with more to share! We are going to a freakin’ MONSTER TRUCK SHOW next weekend, it’s a Hot Wheels Glow in the Dark thing and I’m SOOOOO pumped! ദ്ദി(ᵔᗜᵔ) I’m also being super spicy and gently bullying local businesses to start carrying more vegetarian/vegan options. It’s kind of ridiculous how hard it is in this area to eat plant-based and I’m sick of it. It’s not that hard to have one or two ACTUAL options (and I’m not talking salad, bro). So, to achieve this I’ve been calling a few local restaurants and just ASKING if they have a vegetarian option. Of course they say, “we have salad” and when that happens, I go “oh, nevermind. Thanks anyway.” And that bothers business owners. Hopefully enough to think about putting some more options on their menu. I’ve got a couple people helping me do it so it’s not all from the same number and person. Wish us luck. We are poking the little cubs first before we go poking the big bears, but change always starts small. And not eating animals is the future… •⩊• Love you, my Kandarchist babes. Behave yourselves! ♡
