About Kanda.

Kanda is a 30 year old plant-based artist from Mount Pleasant, MI. With a strong focus in 2-D mediums, she primarily works in ballpoint pen, acrylic paint, and colored pencil. Inspired by the natural world, a fascination for animalia/zoology, and the juxtaposition of macabre with beautiful things. Creatures, flora, and osseous matter are prevalent in her artwork which highlights the need for conservation of our natural world as well as the importance of peaceful coexistence with a dash of ‘memento mori’, a Latin expression that stands to remind one of their own mortality. She has had artwork featured in galleries, product design, in-class art lessons through public schools, a mural at Dog Star Ranch (Muskegon, MI) & a public art crosswalk mural in the Lakeside business district of Muskegon. She currently is serving on the Board of Directors for the Arts Council of White Lake. You can also find her artwork for sale at the Arts Council of White Lake Nuveen Center (Whitehall, MI), and Hemlock Print & Design Shop (Selinsgrove, PA).
