Kanda is most sought after for her pet portrait work. Primarily she works in acrylic paint on canvas to create memorable art of your favorite non-humans. Commissioned paintings of pets are an incredible gift to give to a special animal lover or yourself. They also make a meaningful memoriam to those grieving their animal friends. Not to be dramatic… but art heals and is eternal.

How does one capture the essence of a pet? It has to do with communication and emotion! When you’ve hired Kanda to paint a pet, you will need to email a few different reference images (even if there is ONE specific image you want painted) to help capture your pets’ likeness. Details are not only recommended but highly encouraged! Do they have funny antics? Do they have a favorite spot to sleep? Do they have an adorable under bite or lazy eye? All these details will help paint your pet’s perfect image.

A pet portrait commission will have the option to include florals, a theme, solid or blended colors, fun/abstract patterns, scenery, etc. for the background. The star of the painting will be front and center and can also be painted to include their favorite toys, food, accessories, names, collars, etc. Framing options are available upon request (Keep in mind framing will be an additonal cost of $50-$75). The sky really is the limit!!! All pet portraits will be done in acrylic paint on stretched canvas (unless otherwise specified by the commissioner and agreed upon by the artist). Kanda requires a $50 non-refundable down payment at the time of hire. This ensures the artists’ time and effort is not misspent - the $50 will be deducted from the total cost of the art. Pricing will range depending on size of artwork, number of pets/other items, available framing options, and background variations however all prices are calculated with a $25 p/h artist rate. Shipping may be applicable and is not included in initial costs.
