Oh man-where have you been?!? Oh no, wait… that’s me! Where have I been?! I’m SOOOO sorry I left y’all hanging yesterday without a post. I think that is the first time I have NOT posted since I started this blog, at least to let you know I’d be posting later, so I absolutely apologize!! I was DOWN and OUT for the count all day yesterday. My husband and I literally got sick on MONDAY last week and it has been lingering with us this whole time. We are talking sinus issues, headache, body aches, snot everywhere, in bed and unable to move. It has NOT been fun. I will say I am thankful our kids seem to be holding up (though I won’t even mention that we went to Urgent Care for Nova on Halloween BECAUSE of these same sinus symptoms)! She was upset/not feeling good for MAYBE three hours and then hopped back into Halloween party mode & seems to be just fine now. (ᵕ—ᴗ—) SPEAKING OF: How was everyone’s Halloween?! Wasn’t it so fun that it landed on Saturday this year?! That won’t happen again until 2037! Did y’all dress up? Do you go out with kids and friends, or do you stay in and hand out candy?! This year, my girls went as Hitsune and Sakura Miku…. and if you don’t know who that is, I’m going to have a really hard time explaining it to you because I barely get the concept of a vocaloid myself! ◝(ᵔᗜᵔ)◜ My hubby and I went as Bob and Linda Belcher from Bob’s Burgers and Ozzy was his usual bat-self! We had a great time walking around, and this was our second year walking around with a group of friends which makes it hectic and more like a party!
Another awesome thing that happened this week: It was DRIVE YOUR TRACTOR TO SCHOOL DAY AT THE HIGH SCHOOL! Okay… story time: When my husband and I were just starting to date, he would always tell me stories about his hometown and where he grew up. ONE DAY he told me that his high school has a “drive your tractor to school” day as a fun, school spirit-y way for kids to get involved with the school. Now to me… who didn’t grow up where tractors were, let alone kids driving them, thought this was the BEST thing EVER. I also semi didn’t believe him because… seriously?! The FIRST time I witnessed it, I lost my dang mind. It is AMAZING. They park them in a special parking space all together, like a farm party! This week, I was SOOOOO jazzed to see SEVEN tractors all parked together at the high school parking space! I’m not sure why but I freaking love it. And bless, those kids still drove them with the cost of diesel right now!
This is also the Monday before voting day so I’m not going to sit here & tell you what or who to vote for, I just want to remind you to PLEASE VOTE! By not voting, you are allowing things to stay as they are. And I don’t know how much you pay attention but… we cannot keep things going this way. Please PLEASE VOTE! If getting to the polls is a challenge & you haven’t got your early/home voter’s registration set up, there are free rides available to you! Visit Rides to The Polls-Michigan for more info! Thank you for caring about everyone’s future! And a HUGE THANK YOU to the poll-working volunteers!
Last week I finished the 2026’s Christmas card design and am still in the process of editing it on photoshop so that it will be ready to be printed up! This year’s animal of choice was a goat… pretending to be a reindeer. Which gives me Annabelle’s Wish vibes and makes me want to cry. If you have not seen the animated holiday movie: Annabelle’s Wish… please do it. It is about a cow who is best friends with a speechless boy and wants to be a reindeer. I won’t give you any spoilers but it will literally melt your heart. Next year, I’ve already decided that my card’s featured animal will be no other than my infamous bubby, Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Barkness himself! I’m looking forward to drawing him AND to hopefully making some holiday sales this season since this whole year has been absolute garbage for my sales. (╥﹏╥)
Image Captions- Cover photo: The beauty of fall and all its colorful splendor. Photo 1: Walking in crunchy leaves is a great fall activity. Photo 2: On my spooky vibe shit 💋 Photo 3 & 4: The girls’ and my pumpkin! Jovi made an adorable cat, Nova made “Plus Ultra” and I made an anglerfish inspired by another carved pumpkin I saw earlier in the season! Photo 5 & ^: Nate and I visited the Mouth Cemetery right before Halloween, we have kind of made it a tradition. I love this place and the spirits that inhabit it. We even left some blossoms for them. Nate has looked at possibly finding grants to help restore this sacred site. The dilapidation gives it some of its charm… but the people at rest here deserve better. Photos 7 & 8: Bob and Linda Belcher + Hitsune and Sakura Miku costumes! 🎃 Photo 9, 10, & 11: I decked Reba out to remind everyone to vote tomorrow!! (Only the hottest babes vote!) Photo 12: 2026’s Christmas Card design… I want to call it Mehhh-rry Christmas… is that too ridiculous? ˙𐃷˙ Photo 13: Ozzy being absolutely adorable (Jovi took this picture of him… and 500 more! ◝(ᵔᗜᵔ)◜ )
I am trying really hard to find time to finish The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins- it is a fantastic book and I wish I had more time to just sit and read right now… because I also just received a new book titled Hoax by Madeleine Pelling after preordering it back IN MAY. This book is written by a historian and co-host of a podcast I really enjoy (After Dark), and follows the stories of 3 audacious women that created alternate personas/fabricated lives in order to survive as a female in the age of enlightment. I am really jazzed… and can’t wait to share more! Alright, babes. I hope this was a sufficient post and you forgive me for missing yesterday’s!
As a parting morsel, I want to let you know that “FRED” actually means peace in THREE separate languages-Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish. So— Fred be with you this week, friends. ≧ᗜ≦
