Well, howdy hi! I hope this week was kind to you. It is gradually getting warmer āround these parts and I am here for it. Today was the day I officially applied the newest painting (āButterfly-Finned Sharkyā) to an exhibition in Rhode Island - so send out some good juju! Iāll know mid-May. I could really use a career win right about now! Being an artist is tough as it is BUT with the current climeā¦no one is spending on frivolities, and it shows in all small businesses. Iāve also noticed a lot more people hopping off of Instagram which has me wondering⦠where are yāall going? Are there better apps that no one is telling me about? I guess thatās fine, donāt tell me. Iād rather stay off of them. I cannot believe how much less time I have spent on my phone since purging those social apps. Iāll go to grab my phone out of habit and then, once remembering I donāt have the apps, Iāll just put it back down. Iāve even found games I didnāt know were on my phone, like one where I have to match a regular word with its fancy synonym. ā¢į“⢠It was fun for a minute, anyway. I assume everyone was probably much more productive before social apps came about.
I bought a special metallic blue paint for the Detroit Lions mini helmet 3D printed replica I will be working on for my husbandās birthday present. That is next weekās project. And engraving the rock for Sammiās garden. I will wait a little while to begin my next painting because May is BAT SHIT for our family. My husbandās, momās, and daughterās birthdays are all in the beginning of May and later May usually begins end of school year shenanigans which can turn into a full-time schedule. I havenāt quite figured out what my next painting will be yet, but Iāve got some time to think about it.

A quick update without jinxing anything: Our new bird, Cleo, seems to be doing well. We had him interact with Leo outside of both their enclosures today and they were so damn cute after they finally settled in next to each other. They both ruffled their feathers as a mutual sign of comfort and companionship. Cleo seems to enjoy hanging upside down like a bat in his enclosure. ć Keep those fingers crossed that he continues doing well.
Friday Query Corner:
What skill would you most like to learn?
There are SO many things/skills Iād love to learn. To be limitless in knowledge is the goal, right? Iād really like to learn how to put together stained-glass. Thatās kind of something that Iāve always thought was gorgeous and such an incredible skill but never really looked in to. Unfortunately, I think it is one of those āhobbiesā that you need a lot of specialized tools and equipment for so it may be something I donāt ever get to unless I do a kind of introductory workshop⦠which I am totally up for, just not a possibility at this time!
Enjoy your weekend, ya scallywags! I hope the sun shines for you!
